[In 1852 Andersen compiled an elaborate picture book for Rigmor Stampe, the great-niece of
his close friend Edvard Collin. He is known to have made about a dozen such volumes for children of
his friends. This copy is thought to be the last surviving copy in private hands - others are housed
in the Library of Congress, the Hans Andersen House and the Royal Library in Copenhagen.
The quarto volume of approx 300 pages sold at Sotheby's in 1997 for £320,000]
